Thanksgiving in United States

The arrival of the Pilgrims, the journey of the first year, the harvest and the first celebration of Thanksgiving are among some of the historical events the students of 1ºESO have worked on this week.

First they participated in a presentation created by the language auxiliar who is from California, United States. During this presentation they learned about the history of Thanksgiving, the events leading up to Thanksgiving, and about how Thanksgiving is celebrated today in the United States.

Then the students played a game, a Kahoot, about the history and cultural facts about Thanksgiving and the United States.

Lastly the students did an activity about being ‘thankful’. They learned the meaning of the word thankful and each wrote their own sentences about what they are thankful for. Then we put everyone’s ‘thankful’ notes together on a poster.

Acción de gracias

Los alumnos y alumnas de 1ºESO se trasladan al 1621 para conocer el origen de “acción de gracias”. En clase participan en una presentación, juegan y crean un poster para recrear el tradicional “thankful”.

La llegada de los peregrinos, cosechas y la primera celebración de acción de gracias son, entre otros muchos, algunos de los momentos históricos sobre los que el alumnado de 1ºESO estuvo trabajando la semana pasada.

En primer lugar, participaron en la presentación que Alison, nuestra profesora americana, les estuvo explicando. Conociendo así, la verdadera historia y cultura de tal celebración.
A continuación, toda la clase jugó un kahoot, pasando un buen rato y demostrando los conocimientos que acababan de aprender.

Finalmente, como parte de esta tradicional celebración, los alumnos y alumnas hicieron la actividad “thankful”, creando un póster con sus frases de agradecimiento, como hicieron los peregrinos muchos años atrás.
